Post by roaks » Sun Jan 06, 2013 6:26 pm

I'm looking at possibly trying to fish Chelan lake but i'm just not sure what would be the best method to fish it. I'm looking at going in the feb. time frame. I dont have any down riggers.

No downriggers, better bring a lot of lead or some heavy jigs to get down a good hundred feet or so.

Some big grubish rubber guys in glow would be best. 4-5 inches wouldn't be too big. They have pretty big mouths and will go for darn near anything they can get in their mouths. They're lazy so it will need to be close.

Jigging rods and braid line will help you to get down deeper. Sea anchor or electric trolling motor to minimize your drfit. It can be done and you can catch fish. Add some bait - nightcrawlers will give you a shot at burbot. herring, shrimp for the lakers.

Figure 2-3 oz down to two hundred feet, if it's a calm day. If you have wind, forget getting down the bottom which is where you want to be.

Asking is where the learning begins! I would suggest putting in at Manson. Head out towards mid lake to Mack bar. 100-110 ft deep in the middle. if you don't find them there, go to the drop offs to either side till you find them.

Not trying to strong arm you here...

The Premium Members have access to a feature called "Hot Spots". These are GPS locations that anglers put on their fishing reports. They can be very helpful to give you ideas and locations to fish.

In the case of lake Chelan, we have several guides that have generously added Hot Spots. That would give you some solid locations to target. You can either prnt out a map of the GPS spots or download and put them into your GPS unit.

One year is only $24 for membership (less in a couple weeks at the Sportsman Show in Puyallup).
