Looking for a good crankbait rod

Post by Mikeel1987 » Thu Mar 21, 2013 6:09 pm

I need a good crankbait rod and reel combo or at least some sugestions from you guys on a few good ones to get. I'd like to get a 7'6" but 7' is fine too and would like to stay in the medium power range.

What specie of fish? River, lake. ponds? Shore, boat fishing? For what type of lures? Have you bought that bass boat yet? There is a bass fishing seminar this Sat. at Limit Out, there's a thread with flyer.

make a run down to lamiglas... they're in woodland... about 50 miles from you... the excel xl705 glass would be a awesome choice... plus i know they have a bunch of closeouts down there for $40....

Lamiglas factory closeouts/seconds etc are definitely the way to go if you are reasonably close to the factory. otherwise you are pretty much going to get the regular Shimano/Diawa type of recommendations. If you are looking for good rods that are not the same thing you see at every Cabela's, I would recommend looking at something like the Denali Jadewood JC842CB or JC843CB, Powell Diesel 723CEF or 705CB, Falcon FC-4-17. I personally try to support some of the smaller companies because I like the innovation they bring to the market. These are all in the $70-80 range. For reels Abu Garcia Orra SX's or Pro Max, Lew's Laser MG, Pflueger Purist, Shimano Caenan, and Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier series would all put you in the combo price range you are looking at. You may also find some good 'combo deals at BPS or Cabelas this time of year as they both currently have big sales going on.
