I don't have the details, but there was a news segment on ring tones where the phone carriers were adding on all kinds of fees and charges with some of these offers. Once they start adding them on, it takes an act of congress to get rid of them.
I think this is the segment that I saw:

Yeah, I don't know what site she got them from but my wife was downloading "free" ringtones, the next bill came and there was a bunch of charges on it. It took threatening to go to another carrier before they would take them off.Marc Martyn wrote:I don't have the details, but there was a news segment on ring tones where the phone carriers were adding on all kinds of fees and charges with some of these offers. I use it. Don't get any charges. All you do is select the song you want, and Sparky is right. It's like a public sharing site. People upload their songs and you can select which ones you want to send to your phone.
You can even choose which parts of the song you want. Then you choose to send it to your phone, then you save it as a sound/ringtone, and then select it as your ringtone...
It works....

What I did was buy DATA PILOT Pix 'N Tunes at best buy for like $20.00 and I just make all my own ringtones out of the mp3 files I have. Real easy to use and you can use any part of the song you want and make it as long as your phone will let you. It even come with 6 universal data cables to support all kinds of phones.
