Heard on the radio this morning that the lowest in the state was Moses Lake area at $1.61. Tough to imagine it has dropped so much and oil hit a 7 year low yesterday so it should keep going down!!!!!

We definately changed our fishing this year and stayed much closer to home. There were many times I just paid the $7 boat launch at Long Lake because it would have cost me way more to drive to Loon, Liberty, Silver, etc.

Can't wait for Spring!!

1.89 for regular at the Marysville Costco yesterday 11-26-08. Well needed break. Nice to fill he tank (19 gallons of regular) for 36 bucks. At $4.45 a gallon that 19 gallons would have cost me 84.55 .

So the next question is, will the changes you've made to your driving routines stick or will you go back to previous consumption levls? Our family will never return to the amount of gas we used to use.

I guess on one level it's nice to see that supply/demand actually does seem to function the way economists say it should - price goes up, use ges down, price goes down. Of course, a world-wide recession is a heck of a way to squeeze out the oil speculators. Ouch.

The attached chart gives you a good sense of what effects oil prices. It doesn't show the highest barrel price at $140.00+. It's not just consumption. Create a crisis in the Middle East, and prices go up.

heck, not even create a crisis, just the hint of a crisis. But it's no different than any other event that can cause price speculation. Politics aside, I'm more interested in discussing peoples habits and whether they think the changes they've made are permanent or temporary.

I would like to think I've learned new and money saving habits but in all honesty, I'm already making several plans for various fishing trips/vacations. Nothing super crazy....but a few trips to eastern Wa,Idaho and more trips down to Riffe and Mayfield. With the exceptions of fishing trips I would like to think that I've made some small sacrifices, such as riding a bike/walking more to local grocery stores. One thing I have done since the price of fuel sky rocketed is by more local produce from local growers at the Saturday market here in town, something that I never gave much thought to previously.

I would love to do that, however there is snow on the ground, 32 degrees, fog and most of the lakes are closed for the year:pale:

Come on over to this side for a weekend before gas goes up again. A winter vacation.

Thank you for the link. I was looking at it and I paid less than what it says in the chart in 1999 and I paid more in 2008. The highest I paid was 4.22. But they are within 10 cents of my area.

It varies in different locations due to taxes. That is is probably the national average.
