so what do you guys think of him coming back to seattle? will be sad to see him struggling to do good when it came so naturally to him 10 years ago.

It would be good and would bring closure between Griffey and the city of Seattle. It would be nice considering we lost the Sonics, the Seahawks fell flat, I'm not going to be too chippy about soccer but. Ain't got no NHL so I can't lose any teeth or it too.

I think Griffey would fill some seats both in bars and the stadium and do a small jump start in an otherwise stalled seattle restaurant economy.... but thats really pushing it I guess.

He can stay where he's at. My last exposure to him off the field left me kind sour to the whole thing. He showed up at a sports store in Issaquah (his home at the time). I was getting my son outfitted with some stuff on his bike when he walked in, you could clearly hear the music (if you could call it that) inside the store. The sales help were engaged with other customers but he just started yelling and swearing and pitching a fit till I asked the fellow I was working with to go help him and shut him up. He walked along the rack of bikes making a big show about how he and his buddies wanted to go bike riding and pointed to a number of them tossed a credit card at the store manager yelling something about getting his truck and being back. The manager was trying to quiet him down and he stormed out of the place, jumping into his car, burning rubber out of his spot, hit another car and then just drove off. His car was a convertable and had the music turned up so loud you could have heard it in Bellevue. The music was on the whole time he was in the store. Sorry he can stay in Clevland for all I care.

Not the only show of poise and grace I've witnessed from that one.

He will fill seats and bring back SODO MOJO, but can he get the job done? NO.... And will his contract be worth the ticket and merchandise sales? Maybe, but the only problem I have with him is the Mariners spending a bundle on a history when we could put money into the future. Or even two to three futures. Would you want one old washed up athlete or the chance at a couple quality players who you could mold and shape into stars?

I use to love the guy, but your character speechs volumes and his screams.
I put him in the same dislikable boat as Bonds.

Got a chance to see him play golf at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am the other day...Played real well (golf that is)...

Love him as a player and he's been my favorite baseball player since I can remember...I'm still undecided on him coming back or not..

.249 with 18 hr's and 71 rbi's isn't exactly too helpful, especially if he is put in a DH role.

His swing is still an amazing thing, but the days of 30+ hrs and a .300 batting average aren't around anymore. Whatever happens to him, I'd be thrilled for him. I'd love to see him finish out his days back where they began but I'd also wish him the best of luck if he ends elsewhere....

Well, here we go. Love him or hate him......He's Baaaaack!

He began his career with us 20 years ago. Now he's back. What is he going to be worth to us? Or, better yet, how much is it going to cost us?

Griffey accepted the Mariners' one-year contract offer, which includes a $2 million base salary and up to $2.5 million in incentives -- based on at-bats and attendance. His return to Safeco Field is expected to lure at least 200,000 additional fans this season.

I'll watch and go to games just to see what he can do for the team. I really hope the MOJO is back with him. It would be nice to see again.

A typical young jock with way to much money. Now at 39, maybe he has grown up a bit. We are all a product of our past. Let's hope he has learned a few of life's lessons.

I just love it how Seattle has to always go pay big money for guys that were "has beens" and get rid of their young guns that are now of course doing better than when they were in Seattle.... Lets see... our best hitter Raul Ibanez, how about JJ Putz... then we got rid of Moyer, he wins a world series... um.. Adam Jones is now the stud on the Orioles... and are farm system happens to have "great" players but we never see them in the bigs!!! how about Seattle does what Tampa Bay just did.. surround a couple of really good vets with amazing, talented youth and o ya... they went to the world series... I am tired of the Mariners not going after things they really should be... this is getting to be ridiculous.... and of course after winning 116 games in 2001 they get rid of pretty much everyone.... and have been the bottom feeders ever since!!! Bravo Seattle, Bravo!!!!!!!!

His presence will not get me to go to games. I go to watch baseball, NOT lil kenny... and most of the time I simply dont care who wins. His pompus attitude and past remarks will not be forgotten.

As far as watching baseball goes.. head on down to Cheney Stadium and watch the Tacoma Raniers.

April 17 is opening night against Sacremento River Cats.

They play good ball
It closer to home (for me)
Its less crowded
Parking is cheaper
Tickets are cheaper
The beer is cold

What more could ya ask for?

As stated before in another thread.I had season tics for over 20 years. The M's give you nada. Not even a good team.I dont like the fact that the Mariners cant seem to rise past 1995.Every season its 95 and 97 every game. Its history and old and we really never went anywhere even when in the playoffs. The mariners have a habit of paying big bucks for has been injured players. Now with Griffey we'll have two prima donna players. Both are genuine crybabies. If you remember this quote from 1997."Build me a new stadium and I'll play my career in Seattle".That was Griffey. But as usual he cried about the stadium design.Im sick and tired of these drugged multi milllionaire crybabies crying like 2 yos.Sorry for ranting....I hope the M's do great and go to the series.Unfortunately because our bad economy I couldnt afford tics this year.I told the M's my dillema and how much I will miss going to games and the Acct Exec said LATER.I saw how important the fans actually are.

waste of money if you ask me, even if he wants to retire here. play for a contender and not a pretender.

i have always been a diehard kgj fan, but who in the world will protect him in the lineup? no one - therefore you can pitch to kgj all day long.

the games last year were pretty much almost sold out anyways. the big ticket will be the re-release of og griffey items from the era when he was a rookie. i guess its aboot time i can sell his rookiecard for some real money.

if the mariners dont gain any ground this year, ichiro will be the next to go. im surprised he didnt go to the yanks already. that young gun pitcher will be next.

Watching baseball is about as exciting as watching grass grow -- or paint dry. I'd rather spend the nice sunny day on the lake.
A nice bass is too valuable a resource to enjoy catching only once.

im surprised he actually stayed after last year. there were so many rumors flying around with him going to the yanks. my coach is a die hard yanks fan, and he was constantly telling me - ichiro was almost out the door. honestly i think its just a matter of time. he would be a sweet addition to the yanks, and the caveman just sucks in a yank uniform. he needs to grow his hair back and be a ball player again.

There is a lot to say about being a sports fan. To be a die-hard. To watch, to read, to hear about every game...I think the last few years for me as a Patriots fan has taught me plenty.. See, you have to realize, my first game I ever watched was when I was 6 and it was the Patriots...and they lost..I was hooked...I then became a Redsox fan- A celtics fan...all before the age of 7.. So, you Washington sports fans, I know what it is like to go thru pain and throwing your remote control..or kicking the cat..I hear and feel all your pains as fans of Seattle..all I can say is never give up..Seriously, who here, gave the Patriots any chance againts the Rams?? So, I embrace Jr coming back. I embrace the rotation Seattle is putting out. I embrace they will be underdogs...Did anyone not learn anything about the movie "Rudy?"
