UPDATE...Banks, Rufus and Roosevelt Lakes Cast and Blast!

Post by mav186 » Tue Apr 07, 2009 10:18 am

Hey...just to let my fellow members know...I will be heading to this area from April 16th 2009 to April 20th 2009. I plan to mix it up a bit, but there's a terribly good chance of getting into walleye, Trips and silvers. If any other member(s) plan on being in the area during this time...give me a shout-out!!:-$

Me too. I'll be up in Neah Bay that weekend doing a little video shoot and hopefully catching some big ones.

Thanks Kevin and Aaron...I was wondering if any local members would show interest. That's one of the 'blessed curses' of our sport...never enough time and soooo many places. It looks like the weather may start to settle a bit by then...we'll see. I look forward to meeting some of the more 'active' members this year...seem like a pretty good bunch. I plan to be on Rufus Friday for trips and eyes...Roosevelt on Saturday for silvers and bows and Sunday who knows!!

Thanks,
Mav :albino:

No worries mav, love to meet up another time. I love walleye fishing but don't get to do it to often:-({|=

Aaron, you'll be up on my old stomping grounds. I'm sure your schedule is already loaded but
should you get the chance, check out Hurricane Ridge(bring a camera of coarse)

Good luck to you both

Alright...this is for those of you who may be sitting on the fence...you know who you are...you want to go, and even that little voice inside says "Man! that would be great to go!" :-k But then you remember the lawn needs mowed, or the spring cleaning you promised the wife...ect, ect! We ALL have them!! But I'm telling you...the weather forcast is looking great for later next week...the water temps are on their way up...camping areas are still very quiet and reasonable now...so what more can we ask for!?! [-o< So join me and a few good friends out on the water...the lawn will always be there, at least till it burns up in the summer, and there's ALWAYS next spring to clean. IT'S FISHING TIME!!!!!!!!! :thumleft:

CAST AND BLAST UPDATE:

Well, now that I’ve completed my less than thrilling reports for last weekend…I can tell you the rest of the story.
This was going to be my first trip of the year. You know what happens to people like us…it always starts out the same way for me year after year. Always as little heart pallups, then excitement, nervousness, uncontrolled raging euphoric emotions bursting at every seam…its SPRING TIME!!!! Not only was I going through the normal first of the year emotional ‘twitches’ but this was also the inaugural trip for my new boat. I’ve toiled over it long enough…I’ve pampered it, cradled it through its critical break-in period like a soft delicate flower. Now it’s time to put it to WORK!!!
After much anticipation, the day finally came. I loaded everything the night before, actually it was probably more like 2 days before…but anyhoo, I meticulously went over every detail, checking and re-checking my lists (yes, I need a list for my other list to function properly)…until I was confident things were perfect. I hauled everything with me to work, looking forward to only a half day. As I exited my vehicle to admire ‘my new rig’, for the umpteenth time, (and I know you do it too!), I could not help but notice the driver’s side glass pane was completely blown out and in about 2 quad trillion pieces inside of my beautifully manicured boat! As I stumbled back inside of the rig, pasty white I’m sure, I began to put a plan together. Upon returning home, I was able to find an outfit that was more than able to put my fears to rest…whew OK, no problem…it happens let’s move on. I was happy to be on the road again, this time I was leaving for my destination…and an hour earlier than expected to boot! Things are starting to feel good again. The next 4.5 hours I assume were uneventful, I can only assume that because I think I had my face planted in the side mirrors making sure all the windows stayed in tact along the entire trip!
Once arrived at the resort and unpacked, I was able to relax a bit…well I mean only after packing everything back up, having a brief argument with the manager, having to move into another cabin, unpacking again, then getting into a swinging match with 2 vicious bees inside the cabin, was I able to relax…no I think it was more like COLLAPSE!
The next day (4/17)…no fish…read the report. Ate a wonderful plate of chili dogs and hit the hay…with re-newed enthusiasm for the next day dancing in my head.
The next morning (4/18) I woke up and as the ‘re-newed enthusiasm’ wore off, it was quickly replaced by very bad abdominal pains…you’re getting the picture (chili dogs comes to mind). By the time I hit Swawilla Basin…lets just say I was having
c-o-m-p-l-i-c-a-t-i-o-n-s! No fish…read the report. I put in a valiant effort though, returning to my lil’ cabin paradise, I took a shower and literally crawled into bed where I spent the next 17 hours curled into the fetal position, thumb in mouth reminiscent of infancy, while getting up more times than I care to count, running to the pits. Needless to say I came home early and have since recovered for the most part. They tell me the emotional scaring will take a little more time.
This was definitely one for the record books. I can’t ever remember being THAT sick while out fishing. But I tell you, I’m ready to do it again, minus the 5 year old chili of course, and yes…those feelings are already coming back…I love it and I’m ready to go again!!!

See ya out there,
Mav
