hitting up the green tomorrow.
as the title says, I will be hitting up the gree tomorrow. If anyone wants to join feel free. I am hoping to be at the river by 730 am. I am driving from Bremerton so it's about a 1 and a half to 2 hour drive for me. I used to hit this spot up all the time years ago with my father and always came home with my limit.
If you would like to come and need direction feel free to email me.
just be aware, that you are going to have to hike down some steep slopes and through some brush and you will get wet too.

Sounds like a great time:cheers:
Just be careful of posting where you are leaving your car, and that you will be gone to a river fishing, with said car unattended for hours.
Good luck on the fish.

Where are you fishing the Green that you're limiting out on two 14" trout?
I fish the upper Green all the time (I know most every pool from Kanasket Palmer down to Highway 18, and a few up at the headworks dam) , and catch a lot of fish, but they're usually in the 8-10" range. Fished it half-assed Friday and stopped fishing after 8 fish, none over 8".
I think I can count on one hand the legal keepers I've caught in the upper Green.
If you want to go sometime in the future let me know, I live a whopping 5 minutes from Flaming Geyser.

well today wasn't a good day for me at the green.Modest_Man wrote:Where are you fishing the Green that you're limiting out on two 14" trout?

had one keeper at 12 inches (guessing) slipped out of my hand as I got the hook off.
I have always had good luck on the green, but haven't fished it for three years.
I mostly fish the area right by the 169 bridge. Have to hike down the hill. That is the area where I get my 14 inchers. But not today.
It would have been nice to have someone to fish with today...........seeing how I fell on a rock and hurt hip and elbow pretty bad. Once I sucked it up, I contuined fishing.

RE:hitting up the green tomorrow.
There are some good pools there. Do you fish the first deep straight pool or do you hike up river? I've actually hooked two steelhead in the first pool while trout fishing. Definitely didn't even get closet to landing either one with my 4lb test. I caught a 15" rainbow on a nightcrawler up at the base of the second pool (the one where the river bends 90 degrees) a few years ago, probably my largest Green trout. If you continue up past that one there is a large rock in the middle of the river with a great pool behind it where you can usually pull 8-10 fish out of easily, most in the 10" range. There isn't much past that until Hanging Gardens.scott080379 wrote:well today wasn't a good day for me at the green.Modest_Man wrote:Where are you fishing the Green that you're limiting out on two 14" trout?

I live roughly 5 minutes from the 169 bridge. If you go across the bridge coming from Black Diamond take the next right onto 383rd I'm right down there by Bass lake.
Technically 12" isn't a "keeper" on the Green, 14" is the required minimum size.
RE:hitting up the green tomorrow.
Modest Man brought up a good point on a rule that I have seen broken more times than I can count. Rainbow trout size limits in rivers/streams that also contain steelhead is 14". This was a major factor in the downfall of the Cedar River Steelhead though Herschel received most of the blame. I'm not posting this to bust anyone's chops but rather to educate and point out the consequences.

I fish up and down plus the first hole. I try to fish everywhere. I need to invest in some waders so I can hike through the water and not freeze my butt off.
I have not fished in hanging gardens as of yet. Hmmm I thought 12inchers was a keeper out of there. (I blam my father) Oh well now I know at least.
I think I am going to try some rivers around the olympic mountains area.
