crabbing areas near everett/kayak point
hey guys, new to the entire fishing/crabbing thing in the great northwwest. i was wondering if i could get any pointers on where i can take my 15' smokercraft out and do some crabbing. i probably will have my nephews with me and dont want to spook them with rough water. they are 8 and 12 and havent really been on a boat before and totally want to get into the outdoors here. i am originally from hawaii so this is all new techniques and terms for me. fishing back in hawaii is kinda the same but not really so any help with some direction of where i can find some place thats easy to get to and some calm water near everett to kayak point would be greatly appreciated. aloha and hanapaa

I've never crabbed your area...but many around here have. I'm sure they'll fill you in. #1 get yourself some crab pots. Cheapy danialson's work great. Search "crab"....tons-o-info. Look for other pots to be honest. If you are a newbie and are the only pots in the area....chances are it's not a good crab spot. Just throw your pots/rings in 25-70 ft of water not to far from other crab bouy's and you'll be fine to get started....
Best of luck. (boat is better than no boat)

Hanapaa808,
If you follow some of the threads in the Crab season 09 forum, you'll get a little bit of an idea of what locations to try. I'll also send you a pm on where I have gone for the past few years out of Everett.
Good luck.
Pradeep.

The crabing is great out around the naval base in Everett. I use to run the security boats up there and we used to tie out pots off the warf there and just kill them.
Always see boats out there pulling up crabs.
The water there isn't too bas most of the times, but can get a little rough at times though.
Good luck
