Thirty-eight percent of local restaurants are dishing up a substandard salmon species while claiming it's "wild-caught Pacific Salmon", a recent University of Washington Tacoma study showed.

Gotta watch the video for the details.

I hope they dont serve me a chum fillet sold as wild caught Pacific salmon. Im sure the little teriyaki and sushi places are serving farm raised Atlantic salmon.

Hence why I don't buy fish. :chef:

Seriously! Why would anyone that lives on the west coast buy fish? Especially salmon! The good stuff is like 20-30 a pound at market, and has likely been processed and frozen and probably not even bled. The farm raised ones are a step above planted trout. I give fish that I'd send straight to the smoker to my family for the holidays, vacuum packed and frozen for a couple weeks if not months, they grill it up and they always tell me that it's the "best salmon they've ever had". Now we know why. Blech.

Yea, Im gonna agree with that. I dont recall any of my Red Lobster experiences being all that great. Dissapointment is what I remember. Its been over 10 years since I last went, probably longer.

Lots of folk like to eat Salmon that simply dont fish. Some folk like to fish but would starve to death if they relied on their fishing skills. :-" #-o

Yah, I know what you're saying. Which is why I feel blessed to be an adept fisherman.

In most cases I have TOO MUCH fish to eat.

Again I'm with Matt. The beauty of living in the NW is being able to get a fish yourself. The waters may be slightly polluted but at least I have a good Idea what I am eating. Wild Caught Pacific Salmon is Chum.Silver Brites are Chums, also fresh caught Alaska salmon are Chums. If its a king it will say King or Chinook .Silvers are not Silver Brites. A restaurant cant lie about what they serve because they can get sued up the yin yang. They just omit certain species by their name.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.
