Back in The Saddle Again

Post by racfish » Thu Aug 18, 2011 9:58 pm

Phewww I had the scare of a lifetime Tues morning. Im at work getting stressed out as usual. Im talking with my salesperson and she said I passed out holding my chest. I got rushed to the ER.Everyone thinking I was having a Heart Attack.I was given Nitro glycerin and then mega doses of morphine.I laid in the Cardiology ward for two days. In the end I found out that my heart was in great shape, no blockage and almost no plaque buildup. I came home today and looking forward to work tomorrow. It scared the Bejeezus out of me. Im well and ready for a lil abuse reeling in some salmon. There goes my new trolling motor. Maybe the hospital will get a trolling motor and let me use it. Hahahaha....Good to be back among the living.

That's good news. So, what was it, stress? Too much bacon? As if THAT'S possible.

Good to hear that you are OK and ready to fish. I put my money on stress being behind the episode, it can really mess with your health and put you in the grave well before your time is due. One of the activities for reducing stress is fishing, so perhaps you can get your health care provider to provide a few trips as therapy! I'd also recommend pumping a few hundred rounds through some zombie/Bin Laden targets at the local range, very therapeutic.

Gadzooks rac- don't be doing that in the midst of salmon fest with the pinks just starting things :-) Glad to hear you ended up with a cardio checkup that came back clear. You know salmon with those omega 3 fatty acids should be good for you, yes? Sounds like solid reasoning to therefore conclude it be time to go get some if time avails itself:)
Take care in the between time tho.

Take advantage of your wake up call!! I too had a scare several years ago. Stress at work just about got me. Stress takes its toll not only on us but the ones we love. Take this opportunity to change things in your life. Nothing is more important then you, family and the ones you love every thing else can be replaced. Take care of yourself.

Wow rac, that's a scary thing. Hospital food is disgusting. Get some rest and feel better! My prescription: more omega 3's.

Ralph, Ralph, Ralph, what are we gonna do???? I did that about 20 years ago, didn't know if I was having a heart attack or a stroke. Went to the ER and they loaded me up with junk because my BP 180/120. Knocked me out for three days with thorazine on top of the Morph and told me to see my Dr. when I woke up. I went to do just that and my regular Doc was out of town so I saw a different gal. She asked a lot of questions and the most pointed one was do you snore. Then off to the cardio lab I went. As it turns out my heart was strong as an ox I had a bad reaction to some cold pills, my body wasn't able to process them. The new Doc had just come from a week long seminar on sleep problems. I then was asked to take for a sleep test and be part of a study. Turns out I have obstuctive sleep apnea and I stop breathing when I sleep. That forced the high BP of years of no rem sleep. The good thing is now I sleep with my machine, my BP is down a bunch and I don't have the anxiety attacks brought on by little or no sleep triggered by everyday $h!t. Ask the right questions and you may get some answers to make life better.

Boy does it feel good to sleep in my own bed. Im going to learn how to temper myself and reduce stress. Number one will be cutting way back on salt.Exercise dailey even if its just a half hour walk.I dont want to go back through this again. Sometimes an awakening like this is a good way to improve on ones life. Thanks for the well wishes. Sometimes the best medecine to feel better is too have good friends who care. Thanks everyone.

I'm glad you're up and about. Did they find a cause for the "passing out"? Must have been some BP issue to keep you in the hospital for so long. Robyn and I pass along our best wishes.
