snow
Re: snow
For launcing in the snow and ice, throw a tube of sand in the back of the truck/car/SUV and a shovel to spread it with. When the temps are below freezing, a few launches and the concrete ramps can get pretty slick.
FYI - We have a species of Hummingbird in our State that does not migrate and can use the energy at this time. If you have a feeder, put one out for a week and see if you get any takers. Here is a recent pic of one of our feeders being used.

However, it soon started to snow lightly and I thought better of it. There is no way I can get back up to the top of the hill on which I live, towing my boat, if the conditions get any worse. Instead, I'll just sit back, enjoy the playoff games, work on some fishing gear and throw a log on the fire every now and then.

Re: snow
I here ya! I have to say when it comes to people getting stuck on ramps I've seen it more often than not at salt water ramps. The worst offender has got to be Sekiu. All lanes jammed up and waiting for the tow truck, like tak'in candy from a baby!MarkFromSea wrote:It's all good Bodofish. "If" a steep ramp, "could" result. If Murphy is on the clock, I'm gonna err on the side of caution. My work van has zippo for traction in the snow. This last year I got stuck at the Mukilteo ramp and Baker Lake. I keep trying though. LOL

Re: snow
Well we did all of the above today. Left maple valley at 5 something and by tacoma we were plowing snow, took about 3.5 hours to get to the boat launch on the wynoochee. Boat launch was a joke so we sleded the drift boat down to the water. Ran the river and fished our butts off all day. Not a single steelhead was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for us so we went home. It was a beautiful day on the river. Note the pics of the sunken drift boat, they all survived....BRRRR!!! Fun drive home, snow, ice and idiots everywhere.

you can buy a drift boat, but you still gotta learn how to row it

I'm glad some of us made it out! Yea, what's the deal with the boat? Did they just run into a stump when they weren't looking and get flipped? It sure would suck to get dumped in that cold water in the snow, but man, that's rivers pretty breezy to drift.

Awwwwww.... crud. Just heard reports on the radio, they're expecting sno 6" to a foot on wednesday. That's seriously gonna start cramping my style. What with the balding tires on my cars and the other dummies out there jetting around, we're gonna be in for quite a show.

Love the snow I hope we get the foot like they say

Re: snow
I'm already anticipating having to burn a vacation day on Wednesday due to not being able to get to work. Redmond to Tukwila with a foot of snow? I don't think so.
