18 count sand shrimp tails can sometimes turn on a slow bite. the damn things get so mad at everything though i've never had to use bait.
Have you ever tried tying you own jigs?

Re: Chasing Dirty Dogs
I'd say its around 50/50. I prefer fishing with the float though, it's fun to watch the float go down. Then again it feels great to a fish pound that jig. I don't really know. HA! But I always add shrimp. I put my shrimp in pautzkes borax o' fire to toughen it up and to add that krill scent and dye. Pink, orange, or Red is the way to go. They just ram that stuff. And as for jigs, I tie my own. Hens have the fat bellies and Bucks have the big hooked jaws and gnarley teeth.strider43 wrote:How do you tell the hens from the bucks

Re: Chasing Dirty Dogs
I hope so, Belfair = chum city. Casting fly's into Case Inlet is a good tip if one wants to hit chums on a fly. My dad has a place on Case Inlet just before the hatchery creek and his neighbors are always out whipping up a fish or two. See kings heading that way too.

Re: Chasing Dirty Dogs
can't go salmon fishing with out my beads haha, orange w/ #1 hook cast and retrieved=deadly. Good bank fishing on the skagit at the big eddy and olsen & swift creeks, might even tie into a steely when working jigs. Hawg quest has a cool vid in the achrive videos called "sum of chum" which they are fishing on the skagit I believe below sutter creek.

It was nice meeting you too.
Re: Chasing Dirty Dogs
FF, I think the most important task is finding a school and presenting it, they aren't picky. Next to steelhead they are my favorite. Big & STRONG! I used mostly pink on the Nooksack, my best jig was black with pink head. Use cheap jigs because they will tear them up! Check the regs though, I don't think you can legally target them on the Skagit? The Nookie is closer!
