Parking for Puyallup River Soccer Fields?

Post by mizm05 » Sat Aug 17, 2013 6:14 pm

Want to try the soccer fields tomorrow...but where do you park? I saw a blog that has a map, but not sure if it's up to date.

you're not much help are ya there fishbait? there is not really anywhere on the "side of the road" to park at the soccer fields.

there are soccer fields on the south side of river road by the fruit stand. just be careful where you park and do not park in the no parking sections. there will be signs. i have not been down this year, but there are people towed out of there every season.

i always parked at the end of the turnaround/roundabout and never got towed.

if you are referring to the puyallup fishing blog, then yes that map is up to date.

Thanks brutha. I'll be out there tomorrow morning. Hope some of the reports I've seen on other sites aren't exaggerated.

Puyallup is producing big time right now, and youll have a pretty good chance of hooking into a king. The only funny thing is alot of people calling chrome pinks, coho.

there are a ton of fish in the puke right now. personally caught and released over 30 pinks the other day trying to get silvers and kings. they are there, you just have to get in the water to get them. have fun!

Bugmasta, sorry it seems like youre getting pissy, Its been 4 years since I fished the puke and I remember parking on the side of the road, I guess it wasn't by the soccer fields cause I was there today.
I Hooked Into 28 fish, hooked one king and lost it, another guy I took lost a silver at the bank.

fishbait, not pissy but its not very helpful when someone asks for advice and all you throw out there is "side of the road"

yes, there are places to fish the puyallup where you park on the side of the road, but when you fish the soccer fields, people park actually at the "soccer field" and walk across "the road" to get to the hole.

Yep, bugmasta is correct. And don't park in the actual soccer field parking lot...they have orange cones with no parking signs so hopefully you would take their advice...LOL

There is a road that runs right by the soccer field that ends in a cul de sac. That's where you park. I'm glad we got there at 4:30am because there were already plenty of cars there at that time of the morning, and it only got worse as time went by.

and don't park in the middle of the cul de sac either. they will tow your a$$

you have to get there early, otherwise you will be parking in "questionable" areas.

how was fishing though?

I ended up going to the N. Levee side, it was pretty good over there.

I got there at 4:30am Sunday morning and there were already plenty of cars there. Funny you mention the middle of the cul de sac, because people did park there. Nobody got towed by the time we left, but I won't park there just in case. Fishing was much better than up river had been. Limited out in just over 3 hours. I'll be back! And will be early again!

I don't have a lot of advice on parking, but it is definitely not a good idea to park on the side of the road. all those signs make it pretty clear! I hope fishbait wasn't the guy who walked right in to my drift from the north side, nothing pisses me off worse, but I said something a bout it and the young man, whomever he was, obliged and moved upstream! Good form! Unfortunately a russian couple walked in next to me and started crowding me out and casting out of rotation. [mad]
got my limit of pinks and a jack coho but fishing was a little slower than the last few days.

I fish the puke often and park on the side of the road (where it is legal and acceptable) so you're response is right.

But there are lots of different places up and down that river. i mean, if you park at one of the stores like freddys or the goodwill and hike a bit, at least then your car is in a safer populated area. [thumbup] on the north side of the river I always feel a little uncomfortable leaving the car because it seems like good vandal bait.

please tell me where at the "soccer fields" its legal to park on the side of the road! the topic of this thread was "soccer fields" not the whole river in general. yes, there is plenty of road side parking elsewhere on the river, but at the soccer field if you park on the side of the road, you are going to get towed.

parked right next to the stop sign yesterday. went down fished for two hours. bagged a 8 pound king buck, three hens. left.
Told my friend who was going today. parked at the same exact space. some guys came down river and yelled cars are getting ticketed and towed. he ran up. surely the state trooper told him the truck was 2 minutes out. Got a break. called his friends, got his gear and left.
