I could be wrong but, seem to recall the space requirement has been on the annual state sticker for decades... look on that piece of paper you peel off of your annual sticker.... before sticking it on your boat... anyone else recall seeing that? or, have I got that wrong...

Generally, law enforcement has been ok in my book.... but with the acquisition of my area into the Kirkland fold, I've heard some pretty nasty tactics used by our new "TAX Collectors", the Kirkland police. I do realize they have a tough job and it's different for each law enforcement individual...ect ect... just like any classification of items, there's good and bad and perspective.

It wasn't on mine.

Not a big fan of tax collecting police, they pulled me over for going 67 in a 70 mph zone once. You remember that day? Small town cops seem to be worse than big town cops, but I think that's because they're given less to do. I think the job attracts a certain personality. I have taken out a lot of law enforcement guys on trips and they've been really cool guys, a couple sheriffs deputies, detectives... I've also been given bogus citations by a bored officer a few times.

I started this thread simply to bring the point of the space being required between the numbers and letters, up to fellow washington lakers. I have known about this rule for many years, I just happend to forget to use the space when installing the new numbes on my previous boat. having been recently informed that those number were not installed correctly, and having seen MANY boats for sale on craigslist that do not have the space in them, made me think it might be helpfull to bring it to the attention of folks on this website.
It's probably best if I don't repond to negative comments about police. However, I will say just this.

I look back on my past and regret having never taken up law enforcement as a career. I make a very good living financially, doing what I do, but I desperately wish I had become a police officer long ago. I have the utmost respect for the law. That was taught to me by my mother and father, and I thak them for that. I have found that most people I have conversations with that speak negatively about the police, have had a bad experience with the law, and nine times out of ten that experience was their own fault, and they were simply upset that they got caught. I feel respect is something that is earned, in most cases. However, I believe that one should start out having respect for the police. If you have a bad experience that makes you disrespect them, then disrespect only the officer that was inviolved, not law ernforcement as a whole. Someone else stated it very well. There are not just a few good cops. There are a few (small percentage) bad cops, and lots of good cops. Just like there are good and bad polititians. Oh boy, lets see what direction that last scentence sends this thread. :)

Here is an example of someone that will likely always have a negative outlook on law enforcement officers.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nl4xBZjQodI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This MORON took her infant child to a music concert and was standing in the pit area, very close to the speakers. I think we all know how lound those speakers can get. I also think we all know that you would be a fool to expose an infant child to something that loud. All this woman can do is complain that the police and concert security were concerned for the safety of her child, and her child's hearing. Her biggest interest is to have the badge numbers of all the officers involved. Then she blames her other daughters crying on the fact that they are not going to be able to be in the pit area. MY guess is the older daughter (maybe 10 or 12 years old) was crying because her mother was making such a fool of herself.
Forever this woman will likely comment negatively about police officers.

VERY STUPID woman. Not that fit of a mother to take a young baby to a loud noisy event that WILL damage the baby's developing ears/hearing. I wonder what the father will say when he returns from deployment. I'd be totaly PISSED!!! that she took the baby there. Then I'd probably take the baby to the medics/doctor/military hospital to have her hearing tested.

Another helpful tip with stickers on the boat if you are running a gas powered motor you need to have that CO2 sticker in the stern visible that riders can see it when in the boat. I got inspected in bellingham on a saturday after noon the county officer didnt think I would get one since the licensing place was closed. I picked on up at a tackle or boat store and the next morning he seen me and said " I know he's good just needs co2 stickers" to another officer and I pointed out I had them and he gave me an inspection sticker.

I do remember Nate... Trailer towing speed not to exceed posted truck speed. By driving just a wee bit faster, you ended up arriving a wee bit later... LOL

A friend of mine is a Chief of Police, I look forward to my annual ride along in E WA.

It's not always the individual, policy change, shifts in what's enforced and how strongly often comes from above. I remember Gregoire mandating WSP to drop any leniency, even 1 mph, on speeders right there around the beginning of 2009ish??. It was solely a collection move on her part... I call it a tax but it is a fine for speeding. My understanding is, many WSP officers resented that governor's mandate and continued to follow standard protocol of leniency to an extent.

I too had thoughts of law enforcement as a career.

That CO2 sticker is a good one. I have a little boat, outboard, no enclosed people spaces on board. I stuck the sticker on the door of the bow storage, up kinda high so it's not an eyesore and it doesn't get weathered. Usually, when I look for it each year, I forget where I stuck it. LOL

I put the co sticker under the capacity plate. Blends in and it looks like it belongs there, and isn't staring a person in the face.

My co2 sticker is on both sides of my windshield. Why play games with the law. I don't need those hassles. " I love the smell of co2 in the morning. It reminds me of ... Victory"

Why do you guys need carbon dioxide (CO2) stickers? I thought we all needed carbon monoxide (CO) stickers. [flapper]
