A Strong Battery Deep Cycle Marine for 12-hr Trolling Days

Post by AdsBot [Google] » Sun Mar 09, 2008 12:50 am

I'm looking for a quality marine deep cycle battery that just keeps going and going and going. My Costco Marine Deep Cycle Battery is dying out after just 2 years and I'd like to get a quality battery - do you guys have any links to a good Deep Cycle Marine Battery for a Minn Kota Endura 30-lb Thrust Transom Mount Motor 30-in Shaft. It's only a 30-pound thrust...but I want a really good battery. Not the Costco battery. I know there was a thread like this just recently, but I need a battery that is not a Costco battery, but one that is very powerful.

I'm looking at a battery like this: http://www.batterymart.com/p-12v-32ah-s ... ttery.html

Does this seem like a good fit?

Trojan Batteries. Joes stocks them. I have one for my 30lb thrust Minn Kota. Never felt a loss of power...I have the SCS 150...
It's a deep cycle battery, and Joes carries two more of their batteries but they are bigger and have a lot more power in em, but I've done fine with a the 150 Trojan pushing around me and a buddy in a 180lb Lund and gear in heavy wind for a long time...

I second what Sam says. Trojan is the way to go. I onced used my Trojan battery for 3 days straight on one charge. Best battery on market today. Well worth the price.
Make sure you get a good charger that has the ability to drip charge at around 2amp.

Yea you want a charger that trickles the charge back into the battery. The slower the better. Joes has a good automatic one for around $70....

Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

Yeah Joes has them. I work at the one in Bellingham. I was talking to an 'old timer' at my store and he said it was all about maintenance. He also said he has had his deep cycle for 8 years! Crazy.

And as for the trojans, we have never had anyone come back and say they had any problems in all the time I have worked there.

You should also check the optimax batteries. They can hold a charge for quite a long time. I usually charge it every two outings for my bass boat.

Cabela's has their deep cycle AGM batteries on sale right now. I also ran across a guy that sells rebuilt Optimas. PM me for his info, I can't vouch for his reputation, but he said he would replace anything that didn't work as expected. I think they went for $80 through him.
