This is a story I just heard about, apparently pretty big over in England, regarding some leaked e-mails between various proponents of the "man is the cause of global warming" point of view. Nothing like e-mails talking about covering up or changing data, supressing dissenting opinion, etc to cast doubt on a scientific position. Considering the trillions of dollars this planet will be spending on global warming, it makes one pause to wonder. Here's some light winter reading...

Mike my wife has worked with some of the leading climate change scientists in America. 1 being a current adviser to the president. I can tell you just because 1 group of scientists had some data that THEY doctored doesn't mean the whole rest of the scientific community is wrong. I will get her on here tomorrow I am sure she will have some points to make.

agreed, but this isn't just some group of scientists, this is THE group of scientists associated with the highest levels of research and review of the data. To quote:

"University of East Anglia scientists have key positions on the U.N Intergovernmenal Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) which is promoting the global warming agenda and advocating for the agenda of the Copenhagen climate agreement which would impose a world system of enforcement for industrial emissions."

If that's the case, this is pretty disturbing stuff to me. Appreciate your wife's perspective and what she knows about this.

As well as explaining the global warming period that preceded the 'little ice age' in which there were wine vinyards in England and Farmers in Greenland? Both of which were wiped out when the climate cooled again? There was no heavy industry creating green house gases at that time.

My husband asked me to take a look at this thread and I thought I would tell you my opinion. I read through the sites posted and I will admit that this seems to be a concerning turn of events. I would like to tell you however, why I think that these emails that they talk about are kind of irrelevant to the broader discussion of climate change.

I think I should start with the reason I believe in global warming, and no it isn't because of the rather convincing pictures of ice melting collected worldwide. It is because in an atmospheric chemistry class a few years back I had the opportunity to learn a little about carbon dioxide. I used a machine called an infrared spectrometer to measure how much infrared radiation (the kind of radiation the earth reflects back into space) that carbon dioxide reflects and I found out that it reflects a lot. I believe that the best way to understand it is to compare CO2 to glass. Like CO2 glass reflects this same radiation. This is why greenhouses work, this is why our cars heat up when we park them in the sun. The glass traps the heat inside.

I don't know about a lot of things regarding climate change but I do know that I have seen CO2 reflect infrared radiation. I do know that my car gets hot when I park it with the windows up, and I do know that we emit a whole stinking lot of CO2......

So, considering that CO2 has been in much higher concentrations during most of the existence of earth, is what you see a good thing or a bad thing? Considering that water has a higher effect, by percentage, then CO2, then do we next find ways to reduce water in the atmosphere?

That "judge" is suppose to be you, and the so called intelligent readers of the world.

Benjamin Franklin was concerned that a Democracy would never work if the electorate was not educated. That is why he was almost fanatical about education and schools for the masses.

Currently, with the poor level of education in this country, and around the world, the "electorate" is not educated enough to be able to discern the truth from the fiction in the so-called science.

Again, you won't find me arguing that pollution isn't a problem and doesn't wreck the environment, kill our fish and wildlife, and expose us to hazardous chemicals, but I think global warming is hogwash.
