March 1st, Baby!

Post by raffensg64 » Thu Feb 04, 2010 11:38 am

I hope this warm, wet weather pattern continues! Amber Lake, one of eastern Washington's early openers and fly fishing meccas, should be ice-free on the opener. Ditto for Medical and Coffeepot! The past two years I couldn't even launch until the 3d week of March. I'm psyched....this is going to be a great year!

P.S. I'm not implying that Amber if "fly fishing only"....hardware guys are welcome, too!

Not all hardware can be used, it is a selective gear lake, no bait and single barbless hook. Check the regs.

Additionally, the northeast corner of Medical has begun to open up, the same area that opens first every year. At this rate and barring some really bizarre, cold weather, it too should be ice-free by March 1st. El Nino is giving us some payback after the last two seasons!

I'm excited like a kid on Christmas Eve! With the famn damily on orders for Germany this June, I have to get as early a start as possible! Will work off the rust in February with a few trips to Sprague.

Anyone heard what's going on with N. Silver? I drove by there the other day and noticed several "No Trespassing" signs along the bank. Would be horrible if it closed....I had a few fast and furious outings there last spring, with most fish running in the 15-19" range. Sure would like to visit them again.

OK, Sprague was a bust, only two fish in 8 hours of fishing over a two-day period. Granted, it may have a lot of fish, but it didn't compare to Amber! 8 more days until March 1st!!!
